The Frozen Lake: Changing the frame

from Beneath Us / Between Us by Mama Would Be Proud

/

lyrics

The starting one the open box it up in time to feed the fox. The missing tail, he talked it tough in rhymes to park some other lots.
He'd crawl behind the strangest stores where bugs and heat were strictly scorned, but idolized they left the shore he felt as if he'd seen before.
Keeping real he found an eel that hid between the rocks and steel. One shock a night and it was clear that all he'd ever been was here.
The leading one, another stop. A wolf glides through the farmer's crops and goes out to the mountain tops, but felt as if he'd only dropped. Desert night, a solar flare; imagine he could swim through air and ditch the sand and be up there, be the sunset's final stares.
Bear saw through a telescope she bought from a machine with rope, lost her balance, India, fell and broke her tibia. She limped the way into a cave to bathe with snakes or hibernate, but left the cave and found a saint that took her to the frozen lake.
The lake it swarmed with spirit tracks and gnats that formed in picture-packs. Crack-a-whip, fake-a-snap. Fell hard upon the crooked maps. The maps were changed but felt the same as if that bear'd not left her brain, but hoped on a commuter train to wake or merely change the frame.
